Who are we?

Marker is a full service digi­tal agency based in Auck­land. We spend our nights and days plot­ting the best way for clients to connect with their target audi­ences. Then we combine smart creative, lead­ing tech­nol­ogy and measur­able online market­ing campaigns to add real value. Follow­ing a merger, we’ve oper­ated under the Marker banner since 2006, and our track record of deliv­ery traces back to 2000, the year in which the two compa­nies, Flux and The Outfit, initially started work­ing together.

Team

We’re an eclec­tic bunch of project managers, human computer inter­ac­tion special­ists, online marketers, design­ers and soft­ware devel­op­ers: each and every one of us a tech junky and proud of it.

The Direc­tors

Found­ing direc­tors and family men, Jon Beat­tie and Dane Mitchell, work across all clients so you can be sure your project will bene­fit from their exten­sive inter­na­tional experience.

Jon Beat­tie Manag­ing Director

Prior to Marker’s incep­tion, Jon was found­ing direc­tor of The Outfit, a digi­tal agency in the Deloitte Fast 50 that attracted clients like MINI, BMW and Sony Computer Entertainment.

A 10-year plus veteran of the online indus­try, Jon also recently launched Marker’s soft­ware export busi­ness into the UK. Back in the day he also worked for Hong Kong based start up Asia Online, before the Dot Com crash. That’s right, he was part of Web 1.0 and no, those share options did not make him any money.

An all-rounder who is diffi­cult to put in a box given that he can write code (.NET and bit of PHP and Objec­tive C), is a certi­fied Google Adver­tis­ing Profes­sional, and has deliv­ered hundreds of digi­tal projects for clients in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.

Today he drives our strat­egy, tech­nol­ogy and online market­ing. When he’s not show­ing organ­i­sa­tions how they can apply Web 2.0 and social media to their organ­i­sa­tions, he’s often speak­ing at indus­try events.

Dane Mitchell Creative Direc­tor

Dane has been work­ing in digi­tal creative and user inter­ac­tion design since 1993. He built his repu­ta­tion at lead­ing London agen­cies MetaDe­sign, Luxon Carra and Icon­Medi­aLab, where he gener­ated brand and design solu­tions for Ferrari, Sony Playsta­tion Europe, The Real F1, Skoda Auto, Orange Commu­ni­ca­tions, Bosch, British Coun­cil and Audi.

Alarm­ingly obses­sive about user centered design method­ol­ogy and usabil­ity, Dane’s heavy­weight brand expe­ri­ence extends to brand strat­egy for Toyota and All Nippon Airways while contracted to Inter­brand (Tokyo).
