As of October 2006 this is how the distribution of browsers looks:

This is sure to dramatically change once Microsoft release IE 7 as a “High Priority Update” via the automatic Windows Update service as announced on their IE Blog. Users will have the option to not install this, but in reality many will do without really realising the implications. They will do this progressively over the next few months, so it will be presumably be a gradual shift from IE 6 to IE 7. Corporate networks can block the automatic installation of IE 7 using Microsoft’s Blocker Toolkit.
I was under the impression that it was not possible to roll back to IE6, but in fact you can do this via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
In an earlier post I talked about the issues that IE 7 poses to web developers such as ourselves. If you have any concerns about your own website or applications, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We’ll keep monitoring the situation and provide updates on the change in stats.
Thanks Justin for pointing me in the direction of the stats.

I think currently %ages for IE6 / IE7 are something like 54 / 3, personally I wouldn’t be surprised to see that reverse by the end of November (IE7 being added as a critical windows update as of 1 Nov)
