Business Challenge & Background
Marker is the preferred supplier to the Digital Media team at Yellow. We are responsible for managing what is referred to as the Off Deck Framework, which is comprised of CMS, web application servers, database servers and Google Search Appliances. This is the primary platform for all vertical digital media properties, e.g. everything except the main Yellow and White Pages sites.
What We Did
Over the last year we have also delivered and support a number of projects across the digital media verticals including:
-
A selection of tips, tricks and techniques on a range on topics that feature in your daily life. From DIY home security to advice on your running technique, this tool also has the facility to link in Yellow listings relevant to that article.
-
A comprehensive city guide for Aucklanders combining Yellow business listings, editorial and consumer generated content. The search is powered by the Google Search Appliance, completely changing the way Yellow approaches search.
-
A “mash up” of Yellow REST API, Google Maps API Premier, and the CMS platform. A recent enhancement has been the addition of integration with the Book-IT accommodation booking engine allowing users to do a map based search for New Zealand hotels and book directly from the site.
Outcomes
Customer Engagement
By investing in different ways of engaging with their customers outside the core business model, Yellow now have a compelling online presence that allows that them to give their customers more comprehensive information about their local businesses and leisure needs.
Brand Exposure
These products have meant that Yellow’s customers no longer think of them as just a listings facilitator, as the brand has developed into being a strong competitor in the digital media space.
